Don't force super obese patients onto inadequate 42-inch surfaces—give them proper width they can actually use. At 48 inches wide, this bariatric hospital bed for home provides 6 additional inches beyond standard 42-inch bariatric beds, eliminating the edge-crowding that causes pressure ulcers when larger patients are confined to narrow surfaces. The 298-pound weight means two caregivers maneuver this bed through doorways and up stairs, while the 750-pound capacity serves super obese patients requiring maximum surface area.
Why sacrifice either capacity or manageability? The Protekt Akra Bariatric's ultra lightweight frame design maintains 750-pound independently tested strength at only 298 pounds total weight—less than most 48-inch bariatric beds despite providing more surface area. The full electric bariatric homecare bed features dual motor assembly with separate controls for head elevation and hi-lo frame height adjustment. The hi-lo range from 13 inches to 24.5 inches provides low positioning for fall prevention and high positioning for easier transfers.
This fully electric hospital bed works in real homes with real constraints. The square tube steel slat deck provides durable strength while being easy to clean during care. The scratch-resistant wood grain panel bed ends look residential, not institutional. The UL approved motor operates quietly—family members aren't disturbed by constant mechanical noise. At 298 pounds, home health agencies deliver and install with standard two-person teams rather than requiring specialized equipment movers that delay setup and increase costs.
Super obese patients over 500 pounds who overflow standard 42-inch bariatric beds finally get proper surface area with this 48-inch width hospital bed for home without the 500+ pound equipment weight requiring professional moving companies. The 298-pound ultra lightweight frame allows two family caregivers or home health technicians to deliver and position the bed through standard doorways, while the 750-pound capacity provides adequate support for larger body frames. The 48-inch sleep surface eliminates the dangerous edge-crowding that occurs when super obese patients are forced onto inadequate 42-inch surfaces in home healthcare environments where proper equipment sizing determines pressure ulcer risk.
Hospitals discharging super obese patients after bariatric surgery, orthopedic procedures, or cardiac interventions need home equipment providing both adequate width and positioning capability. This full electric bariatric hospital bed with 48-inch surface accommodates post-surgical body frames requiring maximum space, while the hi-lo adjustable range from 13" to 24.5" aids safe transfers during limited post-operative mobility periods. The 298-pound weight allows home health agencies to deliver within 24-48 hour discharge windows using standard two-person teams rather than specialized equipment movers in homecare bed settings where delayed delivery extends expensive hospital stays.
Long-term care facilities serving super obese residents face challenges with 500+ pound beds requiring multiple staff and equipment to move during room changes or cleaning. This 298-pound hi low hospital bed electric allows two nursing staff to relocate the bed efficiently during room turnovers, reducing labor costs and vacancy time. The independently tested 750-pound capacity serves super obese long-term care populations, while the 48-inch width provides adequate surface area preventing the pressure injuries that develop when larger residents are cramped on 42-inch surfaces in facility healthcare environments with frequent bed repositioning needs.
Rehabilitation facilities managing super obese patients during months-long recovery from mobility-limiting surgeries or injuries need hospital bed for patients that accommodates larger body frames without overwhelming staff during equipment management. The 48-inch width provides surface area for comfortable positioning and physical therapy equipment placement, while the 298-pound weight allows therapy staff to reposition the fully electric hospital bed for bedside exercises without requiring maintenance personnel assistance. The dual motor electric operation adjusts head and hi-lo height without staff physical strain in rehabilitation healthcare environments where proper bariatric equipment sizing supports successful therapy outcomes.
Skilled nursing facilities opening dedicated bariatric care wings need to equip multiple rooms cost-effectively with proper-width equipment that staff can actually manage. This ultra lightweight frame at 298 pounds allows nursing staff to deliver beds from storage to resident rooms without specialized moving equipment, while the 750-pound capacity and 48-inch width serve super obese skilled nursing populations. The limited lifetime frame warranty provides multi-year durability for institutional use, and the HCPCS E0302 code facilitates Medicare reimbursement in skilled nursing healthcare environments where cost-effective bariatric solutions determine wing financial viability.
Super obese hospice patients deserve comfortable final weeks with adequate bed width, but families struggle with 500+ pound equipment deliveries to residential settings. The 298-pound weight allows hospice providers to deliver this 48-inch bariatric hospital bed using standard vans and two-person teams rather than specialized moving services, while the 750-pound capacity and maximum surface area provide dignified positioning. The scratch-resistant wood grain finish maintains residential aesthetics rather than institutional appearance in home hospice healthcare environments where comfort and dignity during end-of-life care require proper bariatric equipment sizing.
